returns a color function with the given name.

Define a user-defined color function:

• • Unprotect[ColorData]; ColorData["test"] := ColorDataFunction["test", "Gradients", {0, 1}, Blend[{Red, Green, Blue}, #1] &]; Protect[ColorData]

Compare it to the default color function, LakeColors:
